Battlefield 2 Crash To Desktop Fix

Postby FriskySmurf » Tue Sep 08, 2009 11:21 pm

Was having issues with BF2 after installing the new 1.5 patch - Checked google, unistalled then re-installed everything clean - Same problem.

Whenever i tried to join a game it did not even load - Just black screen then crashed out to desktop. After some (Extensive) searching i came upon this solution and thought it best to share

OPEN> documents/battlefield 2/profiles/0001/audio.con (if you have more than one profile saved do this for each (Copy/Paste works)

Open the file using notepad (Once done just hit save)

Change the following

AudioSettings.setVoipEnabled 0
AudioSettings.setVoipPlaybackVolume 0
AudioSettings.setVoipCaptureVolume 0
AudioSettings.setVoipBoostEnabled 0
AudioSettings.setVoipUsePushToTalk 0

Job done...

Still cannot access the audio tab, but can play again

I also had an error with BF2voice while reinstalling (From my DVD copy) So i have posted onto EA forum about this (Along with soundcard details) and hope they fix it.
