Have you compared this speed test result with one done on the PC that is hard wired to the router?
I only ask because you may find it's just some issue with your wireless setup

have now got it wired directly, This slow internet is because we tried to down load a film hurtlocker and failed, in doing so we used over half our bandwith so they have traffic managed us between 5pm and 11pm.. wont get back till about 9th feb, this sucks. I think that they should inform people before doing this.

try removing the faceplate on you phone socket fella, under there you should be able to place a normal phone in mate, lift the receiver and press the hash key do you hear static or clicking on the line if so there is an external problem and it's down to your provider to get BT to check mate, I know BT throttle the hell at peak times of late I was getting near enough the same speeds a few weeks ago and after talking to some moose on Sky tech support who suggested I rebuild all the PC's/Laptops in my house (because all of them would need it) I thought I would check the line out as I do this a lot in my job and there was major static on it, but you must check that you have the socket like this https://www2.bt.com/static/i/media/pdf/repair_guide.pdf if there is noise mate it's outside your house between the exchange and your home and they have to fix that for free :) Also I have just found out that they have cards now to place in the exchange to up your limit to 20meg the old "copper wire" is a thing of the past
